Q: Hello Mr. Lawrence, we're extremely glad that you're here. So, can you tell us something about your experience at Principe di Savoia Hotel?
A: Hello! It's an honor for me to represent this amazing place. I've been working here for over 25 years.
Q: Please, do tell us something about the history of this wonderful hotel.
A: Well, from the very beginning, the hotel Principe di Savoia has been the symbol of luxury and excellence in Milan. In 1927 this hotel opened its doors as the Principe e Savoia.
In the 1980s the management decided to rename the hotel Principe di Savoia, because this name is the correct way to refer to the Italian royal family, rather than Principe e Savoia.
Q: Why did they choose this location?
A: The location had a strategic reason, because it was close to the central railway station, the city center could be reached quickly and la Scala Theatre
was less than ten minutes away.
Q: What was the typical clientele?
A: It hosted captains of industry, counts of nobility and cultural icons. Originally, the Principe e Savoia was developed by a limited company called S.A. Acquisto ed Esercizio Alberghi Savoia. After 1959, the Principe, not seriously damaged by wartime events, was also renovated and enlarged.
In 2003 the Dorchester Group, a company entirely controlled by the Brunei Investment Agency, took over the Principe. They kept the original Liberty style and added modern facilities.
Q: Can you tell us more about them?
A: Today the hotel offers a beautiful interior design, a large number of suites, an elegant spa with swimming pool, a fully equipped Business Centre, a Michelin-starred restaurant.
