Japan is certainly one of the most beautiful countries in the world, famous for its ancient civilization, big temples and great cityscapes with huge skyscrapers.
Of course, Japan is a lot more. Its landscapes can be very spectacular and Mount Fuji is very characteristic. This mountain is located about 100 km west of Tokyo and it is easily reachable by bus with a direct highway bus from the Shinjuku Highway Bus Terminal.
The region around Mount Fujisan is located less than 2 hours away from Tokyo.
Mount Fuji is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2013 and this area had always been a popular destination for day trips from Tokyo.
The best moment to climb Mount Fuji is from July to September since the sight is much clearer and the mountain morevisible. Then, you can take breathtaking pictures to the area and discover the stunning landscapes that surround the peak.
Lake Kawaguchiko is a must see of the area. You can also take a walk on the Ochudo Hiking Trail. Climbing there can take from five to seven hours from the Subaru Fifth Station to the summit via the Yoshida Trail. But you are lucky! It takes only three hours to descend.
You can also spend the night there to continue the climb in order to see the sunrise, but remember to book the mountain hut in advance. You can climb the mountain in one day but if you are not sure about your ability to climb 3776 meters (yes, that’s the height!), book a hut.
